Vintage Ads Collage
I love vintage ads, there’s something magical about their designs. Maybe its just a feeling they give off. A feeling of a world long gone by. Perhaps a reminder of more innocent times when looked upon from our modern day viewpoint. Nostalgia can bring up powerful emotions.
Perhaps they remind us of childhood memories. Ok sure, we weren’t even around in those bygone days, but the ads can easily remind us of childhood toys for example. Perhaps opening their wrappings, opening Christmas presents … magical memories of a festive season, family and friends.
Vintage Ads Style
I think its to do with the style of artwork, the colors, the ‘olde world’ vibe that’s built in to them. I suppose when kids today see something like these they might just go ‘meh where’s my iPhone’ ;).
But as someone who is interested in Art and Graphics, they give me a sense of wonder. Maybe its the child bit still living inside me.
